About Me...

This is Houri (/huːri/) —هوری in Persian— meaning “like the sun”. ☀️
It derives from Hour (هور) one of the ancient words for the sun, with linguistic roots in Avestan language. There’s a similarly pronounced word in Arabic, though written differently in Persian. Over the years, and across borders, I have often encountered variations in the spelling and pronunciation of my name. Yet a name is more than phonetics; it holds traces of language and sense of belonging. So I thought it fitting to begin with, as a small gesture of grounding and introduction. 😊

I am currently in my second year of a Master’s in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, specializing in Urban Planning and Management at the ITC faculty, University of Twente. What I’ve consistently been interested in, is how cities form, transform, and evolve; especially through the hidden dynamics and patterns that often go unnoticed but shape how people live and interact with their environment. I am also drawn to visual and spatial thinking and techniques. I love using maps, data, and interactive tools to make sense of complex urban systems and to tell stories with them. For me, geospatial technology isn’t just about analysis; it’s a creative way to explore how places function, feel, and change.

I am still at the beginning of building my experience and finding my path in the field. As I complete my studies, I look forward to learning through practice, sharpening my skills, and contributing meaningfully along the way. 🌍

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy exploring my work! 🌼
