About Me...

This is Houri – هوری in Persian, meaning ‘like the sun’. ☀️
It comes from ‘هور’ one of the names for the sun, with roots in Avestan language. Though there’s also an Arabic form of the name, mine carries a unique Persian heritage, reflecting warmth and light.
Since my name is often misspelled and mispronounced in both Iran and the Netherlands, I thought I’d start by welcoming you with a little story behind it. 😊

I am currently pursuing my second year of a Master’s in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, specializing in Urban Planning and Management at the ITC faculty, University of Twente. My academic journey made me more eager to explore the mechanics of how cities function and evolve, particularly the unique rhythms, stories, and hidden dynamics and patterns within them that shape people’s lives and their living environment. I am mainly interested in using geospatial techniques and visuals to represent and analyze the complexity of urban systems. Being highly visually oriented, I love leveraging the power of geovisualization and interactive tools to make intricate spatial data more accessible and meaningful.
